About Us
Being a vet has been Dr. Karen Tan’s lifelong dream and calling. She grew up in sunny Singapore and has loved the company of animals since she was young (sometimes even more than human ones!) and her furry friends always return that friendship with unconditional love. It took several twists and turns however before she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Before becoming a Vet, Dr. Karen was a Materials Engineer and worked in Asia and the United States for a few years before embarking onto the veterinary career first by studying at Murdoch University, then taking a few years off to be a mother of two children before graduating from University of Melbourne as a Veterinarian (BVSc). Karen’s other qualifications include a BEng and BSc.
In the last 15 years, Dr. Karen has developed a keen interest in traditional Chinese medicine for animals (TCM) together with other forms of alternative medicine and has studied under several veterinarians in Australia, as well as TCM practitioners in both Singapore and Australia. She has also undertaken acupuncture certification course with the Chi Institute for animals and is an AVA acupuncture and integrative medicine member. The journey and joy of learning never ends!
